Rundown (1/06-1/12) Destiny is Destiny and Destiny is Free!

While I have admittedly given the western AAA industry the cold shoulder of indifference and apathy this past generation, I have been, obviously, keeping an eye on it and one of the more interesting titles to come out of the industry this generation was Destiny. A highly anticipated title that was met with a middling critical reception before strong arming the idea of live services into the popular consciousness and also popularizing the numbers driven “Looter Shooter” genre. Following that, it’s development and expansion was just plain old bizarre with voice actors being replaced, the story being fragmented as all heck, a bunch of dirtbag monetization tactics that were introduced in its sequel, quality going up and down sporadically, and dozens of millions of units being sold, because of course they were.

Rundown (8/13-8/19) I’m a Weird Sonic Fan

Some might be wondering if I will be reviewing Sonic Mania soon, as its PC version will be coming out on August 29th, but I am not planning on reviewing it for quite a while, as I often wait for games to go on sale and such. I will get to it eventually, and will hopefully enjoy it, despite it being pretty obvious by now that I am part of the generation who genuinely prefers the 3D games over the 2D games. I mean, I like them so much that I have done some concept work for a story that “homages” Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and I was more excited to hear this new track from the rapper behind the Knuckles stage themes for Sonic Adventure 2 than I was for anything pertaining to Sonic Mania. I guess you could say a weird Sonic fan that way. (more…)

Over the past two weeks, I’ve been picking away at Gender Bender DNA Twister Extreme, and I’m honestly dreading the review I’ll have to write for the game, more so than anything else I ever had to review in the five years I’ve been doing this schtick. The reason for that being just how bad and good the game can be. Some part of it are genuinely good, interesting, or funny, while others are poorly constructed, nonsensical, frustrating, or just saddening. It’s really hard to say anything definitive about any aspect of the game because of this, and I’m dreading how long my review of the game will be when I review it on April 12th. (more…)

0 DR2 Fuck Yeah alright here we go now get hyped energy to the maxSo, I’m currently replaying Final Fantasy XIII, because I felt I had unfinished business with that game, and I am thoroughly amazed that the creators were able to tolerate their creation. As a writer, there is so much about this game’s story that drives me nuts, and I cannot believe that 65 million was invested into such a lackluster story. That, and the gameplay’s auto battle system simply does not work as it is told to—  I’ll save it for the review proper, for now, The Game Awards and the Playstation Experience both happen, so here is a rundown of some of those things. 0 Henneko Hey Sexy Boy There is a TOn of Poverty and destruction in the world Enjoy this pornSo, I didn’t pay much attention to it after its launch, it’s flaccid whimpering launch, but it was pretty obvious to everybody that something bad happened in the Bundie offices when this turkey was being baked. So Kotaku, a site I visit so seldomly I do not know what the front page looks like, did a neat little piece on the development of the Destiny: Part 1 or Dest1ny if you are somebody who found out about 1337-speak in 2007, and still thinks it’s kinda cool…   (more…)

0 Watamote The Unwanted Hug of friendhsip via mascot manSo, Comiket 88 was held in Japan this week, the week of Gamescom, and it naturally had a very spiffy showcase of Doujin games, some very meh looking, others on par with content the lower to mid tier Japanese developers put out. However, I will not be able to play most of them because the world is still greatly divided by languages, when this shit should have been figured out years ago. I’m not saying that English should be the default for the world, as English is a pretty poor language in my book, but I feel that everybody in a developed part of the world should be able to speak a global language as a second language, while most media would be produced in that language to maximize the audience size, and slowly weed out old languages. Now, some people say that a wide variety of languages helps encourage differences in the world and allow people to think differently. I say that while there may be some truth there, some things need to be sacrificed in order for the world to progress and become more understanding. I mean, it could actually help global understanding of others quite a bit if you design the language properly and based on the pros and cons of other languages. (more…)

0 MLM Murder KareokeWork is my reason for not doing a game review last week, and I will be sure that I have one ready this week, and probably two the week after, as I will dive into the visual novel bin upon completing Dark Souls. I have not been in the mood to write after waking up at 6:30, being put on a train, working for seven to eight hours, and then going on another train, arriving back home ten hours later, and only having about six hours before I gotta go to do my bedtime stuff. 0 GUP Let's Do This And Go Home. GrumbleI am not in the mood to write an intro right now. I am hindered from a lack of sleep, am finishing up this semester of school, and am trying to get myself to edit A Vile Doohickey, when I keep on searching for distractions. I’ll edit chapter five after this goes public, so… here is an unimportant blurb about two mid-sized events in the video game industry.

0 BTM Buttocks…Is this Quinnspiracy and Hashtag GamerGate thing still going on? Cripes, I would hate to be alive during a war that had any relevance to most of the world, I would be tired of the bloody concept after a single season. I understand it is a bad thing, but the internet is great for developing an attention span of a rat, so it is surprising that this issue was not dropped so everybody can start eating the poophole of Smash Brothers. 1 Haganai Oh Fuck Yeah!Okay, so a lot of… stuff has been going on with game press, indie game creators, Zoe Quinn having sexual relationships with several men in the press and raping somebody, and the collective society of Angry Young Men… or at least that is what one perspective views it as, due to how there are many, many different ways to view this issue, and I am still at the starting line asking myself, “When the hell was the term ‘Games Journalism’ not something that was openly mocked?” Well, this whole weeklong… thing has been requiring quite a bit of journalism and investigation, along with allegations of biases possessed by sites, and the repression or threatening of releasing certain information. 0KLK Mako is the best also happy girl full of needles so much pain for the joy wrongfully placedSo, in case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been playing a lot of Skyrim, and it has inhaled 80 hours of my life thus far. My progress is still minimal, and my completionist nature with this game has been effectively screwed by Heartfire, which is an absurdly constructed add-on for the game that was likely designed by the lowest tier of employees at Bethesda, as anything that lets you customize a home, but have no freedom with it aside from choices that cannot be undone, is a no-good piece of crap. Fuck E3

It is rather pointless for a little slice of nowhere blog with only a small number of views to do a summarization of the E3 press events, especially when they were not watching them live due to real life events, such as work. But I got home to catch the latter two, and catch up with the former before Nintendo did their event and managed to get everything done before Tuesday’s end… well after everybody and their brother did their own version of this, and often far better than my assorted ramblings that are made all the dumber by the insertion of anime screencaps. It’s Nigmabox’s third annual Super E3 Rundown!

KLK Mom Please Stop me from being evil and bad parents control your kids they are wild jojo cosplayersAs of writing this, I am over 30 hours into Persona 4: The Golden Boys, which is an 80-90 hours JRPG made for another 50 hours playthrough, and maybe a 40 hour one following that. I really do wish I decided to play it on very easy, as I would be able to spend a fifth as much time in the dungeons, which I spent 5-7 hours in during one session as it is the most effective means of gaining levels and not needing to worry about the combat. Yet, going into the combat after messing around with social links and high school shenanigans feels like it is from a completely different game. I’m still enjoying it though. (more…)

Who do I need to scrub like a stain for Having the majority of E3 conferences cram up one single day? Personally, I am starting college today with a summer session. Leaving when Microsoft begins their talks, and coming back when EA begins.  However, I managed to watch all the press conferences and give my impressions. So I’ll just leave this here and sleep up as I regret being a bit outrageous with my emotions because I’m just so overwhelmed with the feels! (more…)

I already talked about the Playstation 4 Announcement Conference and why I am bitter towards it. But I still have a good two pages of other crap!

Thoughts on the PlayStation 4 Announcement Conference

As just one of the near millions of chumps who are trying to be topical about the video games, it is my birthright to talk about every major event in some way, shape, or form. Or whenever I feel like it. Sony had some big thing about a new console, so I might as well toss in my two cents into the 5 ton jar of pennies that is the internet. Written when I had an hour to burn.  But not enough time to bother with pictures, because I’m already thinking this was a bad idea as I’m posting.
