Fire Emblem Heroes (2017) Review

fire-emblem-heroes-header-2As Nintendo’s second effort to branch out into mobile game using one of their established IPs, Fire Emblem seems like an incredibly odd choice. While the series saw a rise in popularity after the release of Awakening in early 2013, it is still a very niche franchise for the company, and does not initially seem like the best fit for the platform, as the games are story driven strategy RPGs. In actuality, Fire Emblem Heroes proves to be a surprisingly good fit for the platform, a pretty solid strategy game, and also one of the most engrossing yet frustrating experiences I willingly put myself through in quite a while. Rundown (1/15-1/21) Super Mario World Adventure DX Director’s Cut 2 Battle & Knuckles

super-mario-world-adventure-dx-2-directors-cut-battle-by-memebeanmachI did not notice this after the Nintendo Switch event last week, mostly because I try to curate my media feeds as best I can, but apparently everybody who watched the trailer for Super Mario Odyssey compared the game to Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) because it has a cartoonish character wandering around a realistic city with realistic people.  Even though the far simpler and, well, better comparison to make here is between Sonic Adventure.  The general aesthetic is basically identical, as both games feature sections where a strange creature jumps and runs around a metropolitan environment filled with street lights, skyscrapers, and cars that move down the street.  Oh, and yes you ever insightful children, if Mario was real, he would be dissected and branded a mutant.  You’re as clever as a whoopie cushion and somehow more irritating. Rundown (4/24-4/30) I’m A Busy Little T-Girl

WhassupApologies for not getting a Hyperdevotion Noire review up.  Work, school, and family stuff all cut into the time I could put into that game.  Review should be up tomorrow evening.  Also, on May 31st I will (hopefully) release a novella I’m currently working on called Maple Loves Senpai.  It’s a story about a Japanese schoolgirl who gets absorption powers and is guided by the voice of her lover to consume people in order to transform herself into his ultimate waifu.  Many stereotypes and dark themes ensue.   Continue reading

Rundown (7/13-7/19) I Am Truly The Nicest One There Is!

0PGOS Adorfable face of cute chubbinessFor the past… I don’t even know how long, there’s been a lot of talk about bringing in a wave of diverse characters and trying to lessen the use of characters fitting a mold of being straight white males with short black hair, athletic builds, and possibly some beard scruff, as that is quite frankly an incredibly dull mold when you consider how those sliders can be manipulated.  Hell, when I started writing, well, writing something that I actually completed, I specifically went out of my way to avoid that mold, when I was dealing with the medium of writing, which is where the character’s visual appearance does not matter all that much as it is not a visual medium.  Yet I still went out of my way to make sure I had balanced ethnicity well, even if I boiled it down to four variants, White, Black, Hispanic, and Asian, made them either pansexual or asexual, and make sure the character at the very least obtains a female form if they do not begin with it… The Transformation, Ascension, and Degeneration of Terra is coming to this blog 11/18/2014 or sooner!  I’ve got about three more chapters and two months of editing left to do, so I’d say early October.  Probably.
