So, I announced that I was going to release a revised version of one of my stories, Psycho Shatter, on September 11th. Well, progress has been slower than anticipated, and it will actually not be done until September 15th of so. I underestimated the workload, and want to make sure I am happy with the final product by editing it once more. Sorry that my output on that front has been so lacking as of late. Continue reading
So, I didn’t pay much attention to it after its launch, it’s flaccid whimpering launch, but it was pretty obvious to everybody that something bad happened in the Bundie offices when this turkey was being baked. So Kotaku, a site I visit so seldomly I do not know what the front page looks like, did a neat little piece on the development of the Destiny: Part 1 or Dest1ny if you are somebody who found out about 1337-speak in 2007, and still thinks it’s kinda cool… Continue reading
So, the Trans-Pacific Publishing trade agreement is a big thing this week, and it may affect all media in Japan, Australia, the United States, Canada, and more. It will increase the already overpowered corporations’ power, is vaguely written, and will exacerbate the problems with copyright laws, laws that have been mangled and mutilated over the past few decades. You could be deemed a criminal for having the audacity to leak information that the public ought to know about, even if it’s something as simple as a game being technically broken upon release. Tampering with software files would be illegal, from removing DRM, to fixing games, and potentially even mods, which would be viewed as hacking. Piracy could be met with the destruction of your hardware and neigh unlimited fines, and this whole thing was written by corporations for it, so why in the fuck would any true human being support that shit? Seriously, the fact this democratic government would so much as consider this sort of putrid pulsating piece of poo for a second is disgusting. Continue reading
I am still working on my second proper novel, The Malicious Abigale Quinlan, in case you are wondering. Development has been a little hectic to be honest, but after rewroking certain parts of the story while keeping the core events the same, I feel I will be able to finish writing it by year’s end. Although, I will need to do some editing afterwards, which will take me about a month or so. Alright, onto a #FucKonami piece. Continue reading
I’m not sure how often I’ve brought this up, but I think that Free to Play games were among the worst things to happen to the industry in recent years, and there have been a lot since I got in this industry’s intestines, mostly the large one, where poop is dried out, around 2006. But after reading this little piece by somebody who has been getting neck deep in whale blood as his employers tried to manipulate individuals with mental problems for the sexiest thing in the mortal world, Kentucky granola, also known as USD, I feel I have an opportunity that I shall not waste, if only because I love the line and it is mostly true. Free to play games were a mistake; they’re nothing but trash. I hope they are outlawed by 2033, when the Great African War begins and half of it is destroyed by a nuclear explosion. Buy War Bonds in preparation of the war to end all wars! Continue reading
Metal Gear Solid V came out this week, and people are unsurprisingly adoring the game. However, even if I weren’t keeping to my word to not buy the game before September 1, 2017, as to make my claim that I wouldn’t buy the game for ‘years’, I don’t think I’d be that interested. Quite simply, the base building, open world, and ranking systems all sound like the worst thing you could do with a narrative driven stealth game. Missions? Fine. But ranking and grading systems stir all sorts of bad anxieties inside my butthole. Continue reading
So, Comiket 88 was held in Japan this week, the week of Gamescom, and it naturally had a very spiffy showcase of Doujin games, some very meh looking, others on par with content the lower to mid tier Japanese developers put out. However, I will not be able to play most of them because the world is still greatly divided by languages, when this shit should have been figured out years ago. I’m not saying that English should be the default for the world, as English is a pretty poor language in my book, but I feel that everybody in a developed part of the world should be able to speak a global language as a second language, while most media would be produced in that language to maximize the audience size, and slowly weed out old languages. Now, some people say that a wide variety of languages helps encourage differences in the world and allow people to think differently. I say that while there may be some truth there, some things need to be sacrificed in order for the world to progress and become more understanding. I mean, it could actually help global understanding of others quite a bit if you design the language properly and based on the pros and cons of other languages. Continue reading
And E3 is done… Kinda. Yes, I know the first proper day just happened, but after the press events, my work is mostly done, and 90% of the announcements are out of the way. It’s just impressions from here on out, which is just dandy in my book. However, Nintendo, Square Enix, and AMD all had press conferences, so I’ll just get to explaining what the blazes they were about, and what my Autistic mind thought about them. Continue reading
Yeah, yeah, reviews are coming, Verde’s Doohickey will be out in 2015, I’ll start watching another anime soon, school is ending so I’m a bit busy, etc. I forgot to do this introduction until I was about to hit post, so… here you go, Guyvers. Continue reading
Yeah, there will not be a review this week, as no game in my backlog grabbed my attention, and I felt into the Dark Souls New Game+ pit. I’ll try to get something up next week though. Cool, thanks, bye… Wait, not bye, because I have a rundown of things that I wanna talk about in the game industry. Continue reading
Okay, GDC week, and it was pretty full of goodies, but I want to first highlight a Kickstarter that I cannot believe exists, and it is for an anime series by the name of Devil’s Legacy, and it looks like a complete and utter scam if you mixed it with a genuine and promising series. The amounts of ADHD that is poured into this mess of ideas and art that generally doesn’t look good, but was made by 20+ year veterans of the anime industry is staggering, but with a 149,000 Euro goal, I doubt that anybody would get the… what is it? A 8-10 minute short? Which are you promoting with some artwork that looks like it was done in 8-10 minutes, though I suppose that if you have “100 main characters” you should expect the quality to be spread thin. Continue reading
I am not in the mood to write an intro right now. I am hindered from a lack of sleep, am finishing up this semester of school, and am trying to get myself to edit A Vile Doohickey, when I keep on searching for distractions. I’ll edit chapter five after this goes public, so… here is an unimportant blurb about two mid-sized events in the video game industry.
So, Dragon Age Inquisition comes out on my Birthday, but a combination of the price, bugs, and how I am saving for a GTX 970 ontop of the inevitable Steam sales puts it on the back burner. Oh, and Origin, never forget about that yucky Origin! I really do want to dive in though, but I have visual novels and some PS+ games to keep me preoccupied. Also out of the streets, where there is always a war on. A nice chilly one at the moment, filled with mutants. Continue reading
Well, next week I’m starting school again, and I am honestly kinda bummed about that. Not because I dislike school or anything, as Highschool involved me going to classes with teachers I liked, doing homework in between, and then fucking off to write stuff for this very blog. It was great. But last year, when I began college, I was met with one okay semester, and one semester I remember nothing of, the one I remember nothing of, and learned nothing from, was my previous one. Oh, I did learn things, such as just because a person have a form of pedigree and are a novelist doesn’t mean they can’t be a disturbingly stupid person. Oh, and this semester I’m taking classes I’m taking for credits, and I know I will dislike the majority of the them with the other one being a class I can thankfully do with my sister, which should be kinda neat. So in conclusion, I would rather be in High School again, even if I had to get up at seven, and have started classes on August fifth. Just give me two days off so I may work at an office. Continue reading
It is rather pointless for a little slice of nowhere blog with only a small number of views to do a summarization of the E3 press events, especially when they were not watching them live due to real life events, such as work. But I got home to catch the latter two, and catch up with the former before Nintendo did their event and managed to get everything done before Tuesday’s end… well after everybody and their brother did their own version of this, and often far better than my assorted ramblings that are made all the dumber by the insertion of anime screencaps. It’s Nigmabox’s third annual Super E3 Rundown!
Wow, I totally forgot I had Nigmabox Rundown’s one year anniversary last installment. To think, I’ve been using pictures from random anime while bitching about video games for a year… well, let’s make it two, as I’ve got at least a hundred more of these in me. Even if it does mean I will need to scrape the bottom of the barrel with things like Flappy Bird, a game that I saw people more or less code back in high school that caused a form of controversy that I quite frankly do not get, mostly due to how I believe the game is, or rather was, free. Is it unoriginal and lazy? Pretty much, but that doesn’t mean it deserves anybody’s attention. Hell, I could… no, actually I couldn’t make it, as I could not program for crap four years ago and sure as sugar cannot now. Continue reading
“What do you want to see from games in 2014?” is a question that I raise an eyebrow towards, as I view it as a very simple one to answer. Less hissy fits about minor details, stay positive and hope companies don’t do dirty actions, and keep on putting out great games. Bam! I think the question is more focused towards what people really want out of Gen8, but then I can’t answer the question properly, as I made myself a PC that I named after this here blog I made about a year beforehand. I got more games than I got over the past three years in the past seven months so jack could happen this year and I’d say it was still pretty good. So here’s a bunch of old C Grade news.
