Rundown (6/10) E3 2018: Consumption Makes the Heart Grow Fuller

As is customary with celebrating an event such as this, it is important to acknowledge the futility of this event.  E3 is effectively one big commercial designed to hype up consumers in order to spur discussion and news about games, in order to help maximize potential revenue, in order to allow major AAA studios to continue existing.  It is very easy to view this whole affair cynically, pointing out the downsides of high expectations and how gaming is arguably most enjoyable when ignoring industry nonsense. I really have nothing to say for an introduction this week, so here is a video of Nier and Drakengard director Yoko Taro making a plea for people to preorder Neir: Automata by rolling on the floor. Continue reading

Rundown (8/14-8/20) We Are All the Gamindustri

20160706215444_1So, I managed to revise two of my most recent stories this week, and next week I am both ending a job and attending school at a big girl’s university.  Life is going to get hard and hectic, according to my mother who never attended university.  Though, I’m not worried about that.  I am sorta worried about getting out content regularly, but I think I should be able to publish 52 game reviews this year and finish up Psycho Bullet Festival 2: Bury My Children.  Oh, and publish a Rundown every Sunday.  Header image is by NSFW artist ModeSeven.  Continue reading

Rundown (10/25-10/31) Sophisticated Sadism, Silliness, Schizophrenia, and Savagery

0 Mari freak on a leash mosnter devil demon destyer bad omen death to all who oppose me welcome to the abyss of dieBecause I’m a complete idiot, I keep on thinking about the design documentation for a game idea that I’ve had for a couple of months.  A sandbox game with destructible… everything, where you play as a schizophrenic shapeshifting demigod who switches between four core personality types depending on how the player wishes to have them act.  What do you do?  Absorb people, disguise yourself as them, cause domestic disputes, and war crimes of just about every caliber as you destroy a futuristic city designed after the late 20th century that automatically rebuilds itself whenever you destroy it, and people respawn.  It would cost millions to make, and as such will never exist.  A body swap centered visual novel, however, that I can probably do by myself if I hire an artist.  Or I could just use Eroge sprites like Student Transfer or Press Switch.  Both of which I’ll review come their next build.
