Rundown (6/09) E3 2019: Get Your News While It’s Hot!

I am very well aware of the fact that it is beyond pointless for me to try and cover an event like E3 or offer my hot takes on any given press conference due to the simple fact that everybody and their baby cousin is doing the same darn thing, and that my posts do not technically go up until hours later, where they offer a text-based summary of a video broadcast.  It is all kind of pointless in a sense, but I have fun making this elongated opinionated summaries, and that’s the important part. …I think.

Rundown (6/10) E3 2018: Consumption Makes the Heart Grow Fuller

As is customary with celebrating an event such as this, it is important to acknowledge the futility of this event.  E3 is effectively one big commercial designed to hype up consumers in order to spur discussion and news about games, in order to help maximize potential revenue, in order to allow major AAA studios to continue existing.  It is very easy to view this whole affair cynically, pointing out the downsides of high expectations and how gaming is arguably most enjoyable when ignoring industry nonsense. But I cannot help but love the act of fervorous consumption all the same, as it is a very filling and pleasing experience that still serves as a good excuse to become excited in a world that… I’d rather not talk about right now.  Time for video games!

Rundown (6/11) E3 2017: Return of the Busiest Time in My Life

E3 has begun, and thankfully the duties have been spread apart this year, with the previously mostly vacant Sundays are now being used by two major press conferences.  Meaning that I only have three more to go after pushing out this post right at the cusp of midnight because Bethesda thinks it is good to have a press conference at 9 PM PST.  Also, the title of this post is not a lie.  I do more work per day during the Monday and Tuesday of E3 than I do during any other time during the year.  Especially this year, as I have to work and attend class while E3 is going on.  Anyways, on with the rundown. Wolfenstein: The New Order Review

2016-01-14_00092Wolfenstein: The New Order has been on my to-play list for quite some time, even though I don’t have much affinity for first person shooters. Ever since it clicked to me that they visually look like games about disembodied guns shooting people, it became difficult for me to not look at them as somewhat gauche. Yet, I heard good things about the story, which is weird for a game where you shoot nazi robots in the face with dual wielded shotguns. Continue reading

Rundown (9/20-9/26) Oh Right, I Almost Forgot About You!

158Sorry no review his this past week.  I didn’t really play anything the week before that, and am currently working my way towards Undertale, which is pretty darn fantastic and is probably going to be my favorite game of 2015.  Heck, I’d say it’s a ten on ten if there was an easy mode, because I am really not good at games that focus on avoiding things that move in odd patterns or give you a limited reaction time.  But I’ll save that for the review.  For now, enjoy this page of shoddily constructed game news that I gathered, in contrast to the TGS rundown of last week. Rundown (3/01-3/07) …Yeah, I’m a Bad Person

0 Mari entire life was pointless about jerking off cum times orgasm fun worthless die in a fire you fuckerOkay, GDC week, and it was pretty full of goodies, but I want to first highlight a Kickstarter that I cannot believe exists, and it is for an anime series by the name of Devil’s Legacy, and it looks like a complete and utter scam if you mixed it with a genuine and promising series.  The amounts of ADHD that is poured into this mess of ideas and art that generally doesn’t look good, but was made by 20+ year veterans of the anime industry is staggering, but with a 149,000 Euro goal, I doubt that anybody would get the… what is it?  A 8-10 minute short?  Which are you promoting with some artwork that looks like it was done in 8-10 minutes, though I suppose that if you have “100 main characters” you should expect the quality to be spread thin. Rundown (2/16-2/22) I Am Disappointed With This Meal!

ButtholeI suppose this is the paragraph where I should speak of Diddy Kong coming back to Smash, but the return is expected much like Yoshi’s come mid-March.  Instead, I want to talk about Pokemon, and how much I wish GameFreak would release tools to create one’s own Pokemon adventure using assets from the newest games.  Or in other words, just make ROM hacks easier to make and be something that can be played on the 3DS.  Why?  Because I’d play Pokemon so much more often then and my 276 hours with X were not enough.  10 Pokemon to go… fart!
